Collision alert warning ignored at Miramar amid PSA crash
A collision alert system at Miramar Naval Air Station reportedly sounded 17 seconds before the Pacific Southwest Airlines 727 collided with a Cessna 172. Controllers did not alert Lindbergh Field until after the crash, citing disbelief it was a collision. A NTSB spokesman urged review to determine if the signal influenced acceptance of danger.
