Hunt Memoir Says He Urged Castro Killing

Plan to spy on radicals during Watergate era

Washington reports a secret White House plan to spy on domestic radicals. An undercover team from various federal agencies allegedly intercepts mail and taps phones while auditing taxes and planting informers. The plan was reportedly blocked by J Edgar Hoover but later partially used. Nixon had withdrawn the plan in July 1970 after Hoover objected.

Canada to Withdraw From Vietnam Cease-Fire Commission
