Texaco rationing plan barred by Ohio court action

Texaco Inc was barred from restricting fuel sales along the Ohio Turnpike after a court order. Turnpike chairman James Shacknessy moved to restrain the plan which set limits of 10 gallons of gasoline per customer and 35 gallons of diesel per commercial customer, with reductions possible. A June 7 hearing on the restraining order was scheduled as Texaco said the limits would apply nationwide on toll roads it serves.

Texaco Curtails Turnpike Gas Sales Ahead of Peak Season

Texaco, Inc. restricts fuel sales on the Ohio Turnpike just before the traditional high demand period of June through August. Turnpike service stations, including Texaco’s four of sixteen, contributed about 3.8 million dollars of commission income last year from a total 34.74 million, while summer gasoline sales rose by 1 to 2 million gallons in July and August. Diesel sales show a slight summer decline.

Graham Draws Record Crowd in Seoul Crusade Opening

Evangelist Billy Graham attracted 516000 people for the first night of a five day Seoul crusade in the capital at May 16 Plaza. His largest crowd before was 200000 in Rio de Janeiro. A 6000 voice choir accompanied the hour long sermon translated into Korean. About 20000 responded to the decision call and 3000 stayed for overnight prayers in tents.

Vietnamese tank probe near Hue sparks quiet caution

South Vietnam said a Communist tank attack 18 miles southwest of Hue was a probe, not a full offensive. Infantry with three BT76 tanks crossed the Rao Nai river,. government artillery hit one tank and killed 15 attackers as two others withdrew. One government soldier wounded.
