Loss of interest noted in annual poppy sale
The American Legion Auxiliary Post 218 held its yearly Memorial Day pre sale of handmade poppies in Sandusky. Volunteers, including youths, sold the scarlet flowers to support veterans, with prizes for top donors and sellers as Poppy King and Queen. Cases show declining interest and a larger share staying local for community relief.
