Florida prosecutors plan charges within a week against up to 38 corporations for defrauding about 1,550 retirees of 28 million in Dade, Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties. Richard L. Krabach orders most of the Administrative Services Department moved to the 40th floor of the State Office Tower at a cost near 57 500 dollars. He buys new desk and furniture for about 9 000 dollars. Aides say move will boost efficiency by reducing elevator trips and may relocate other agency sections within the tower. Dana L. Stewart notes funds go to private contractors for partitioning and that the Ohio Court of Claims relocated earlier at a cost of 15 730 dollars.
A pre dawn blaze in Etna Pennsylvania killed a young mother Dianne Salvatore 26 and her four children Gale eight Eric five Michael two and Dianne 32 months. The father Albert Salvatore and his seven year old son Albert Jr survived after escaping through the rear. Police said Albert and his son were treated for shock and released from Allegheny General Hospital.
Older Americans receive an 8 percent boost in Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits with June and July launches. Average retiree checks rise by amounts up to 27 dollars, while beef prices are projected to climb this spring, lifting overall food costs.
