Ohio House Democrats push optimistic 10.68 billion budget
The Ohio House approved an optimistic 10.68 billion dollar budget 58 to 39 sending it to the Senate before the June 30 deadline to keep bills paid. Speaker Pro Tem Barney Quilter praised fulfilling taxpayer commitments while opponents warned funding gaps. The package increases higher education and welfare, funds a new school aid formula with 502 million in new money, and contains limited tax changes. The plan avoids most new taxes and omits expanded athletics funding amid GOP objections to projected income.
