Rescue Beagle Dumpy Survives Gas and Bulldozer Ordeal

In Salem Ohio two women found and saved Dumpy a three year old Beagle mix after he survived being gassed in a dog van and struck by a bulldozer at a landfill. A deputy was suspended for neglect of duty and new carbon dioxide gas units will be installed in county trucks. Dumpy is recovering with partial paralysis but regaining movement and hope for adoption.

Laos rebels pledge to free nine Americans in Laos

North Vietnam said the Pathet Lao promised to release nine U.S. captives in Laos but gave no timing or location. The United States pressed for clear dates and places as a condition for final U.S. troop withdrawal from Vietnam. Brig. Gen. Wickham noted withdrawal hinges on lists of POWs and release details. The Viet Cong objected to including 159 embassy Marine guards in the pullout, calling it a breach of the Paris cease fire.
