New York AP reports a three day Broadway and road show strike ended after a long Gracie Mansion bargaining session. Three shows will not reopen, ticket price hints arose, and a three year contract sets weekly minimums at 145, 150, and 155 dollars with current 130.
U S Infantrymen killed 93 Viet Cong and seized 33 suspends in four clashes around Saigon plus 44 enemy dead near a helicopter landing zone 12 miles north. U S losses were 15 killed and 14 wounded with 39 more enemy dead reported 29 miles northeast of Saigon.
Allied reports indicate 33 prisoners were rounded up southwest of the capital by the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. In the Mekong Delta, 65 miles southwest of Saigon, Vietnamese infantry reportedly killed 40 guerrillas and captured 27, with light allied casualties.
The Coast Guard searched Lake Erie for survivors after a sudden windstorm capsized or swamped about 65 pleasure craft. Twenty four people were rescued from 65 degree water as 70 to 80 mph winds and 15 foot waves hit the lake. No deaths reported and a wide 50 to 100 square mile sweep was conducted with Coast Guard auxiliaries police private craft and Army Corps of Engineers assistance.
The forecast for Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley predicts fair and warm conditions with a slight chance of showers as summer begins at 4:13 a.m. Friday. A Coast Guard rescue followed a boat-related incident near a lake, where 24 people were rescued, including sailors from a sailboat race. no small craft warnings were issued despite storms moving through the region.
