Edgewood students place high in statewide tests
Two Edgewood High School students excel in state scholastic achievement tests. Alan Burley earned honorable mention in American History while Judy Dickerson finished 14th in English 10. A separate public notice notes Monroe Village manages Planned Use Funds under Section 51-13 with $6031 allocated to Police and Utility equipment.

Nine West Virginia Businesses Destroyed in Big Bluefield Fire
A morning blaze gutted the Bradmann Building in Bluefield destroying nine businesses and causing over 1 million dollars in damage. Fire Chief Lee Puckett was hospitalized with smoke inhalation but is reported in good condition. The fire began around 3 30 a.m. and was controlled by 11 30 a.m. Flames reached 50 60 feet, hampering efforts for hours.
