Developer protests planning commission blackmail at meeting
Joe Lewis accused the city Planning Commission of blackmail after not receiving notice of a June meeting where his request to amend a development plan for Avalon Park and allow a 60 square foot sign was denied. He had a prior zoning variance for a 30 square foot sign, while staff recommended 15. The planner admitted a letter was forgotten, and Lewis urged submission of a comprehensive sign plan for his large development plan including 306 mobile home sites and 120 town houses on a 30 acre industrial site.
