Five Die As Beechcraft Crashes Into AU Tower
A Beechcraft King Air with six aboard struck the 398 foot broadcasting tower on the American University campus in fog and rain. Five men from Columbus, including The Columbus Dispatch publisher Edgar T. Wolfe Jr., were killed. a sixth passenger was unaccounted for initially. Fire and rescue teams searched the area as the campus station temporarily went off air and the plane exploded on impact near the president's home.
