The Gallup Poll reports 29 percent of Americans approved of President Nixon’s performance in the final 1973 survey. A November 25 reading stood at 27 percent, with a 39 point drop since January when post peace settlement approval hit 68 percent. Watergate and economy cited as key factors.
London AP reports a major British Arm operation guarding Heathrow and Windsor Castle after terror threats. About 400 troops and police with machines guns tanks and armored cars patrol the grounds and terminals while car searches and airfield inspections expand security across London and other European airports amid IRA bombings over the weekend.
Robin Orban, a San Diego model, returned to New York from London where she had been barred entry. British Home Office said she was not deported as she had not formally entered Britain. FBI refused comment on the interview. In London, Allison Thompson, 18, Santa Barbara. Abdelkhir el Hakkaoui, 25, Morocco. and Athar Naseem, 21, Pakistan, were charged with conspiracy related to firearms and held without bail.
Belfast AP reports Unionist leader Brian Faulkner resigns as head of the Unionist party after a decisive defeat in the party council over power sharing with Catholics. He remains Northern Ireland government chief executive and may form a new moderate Protestant grouping with supporters in the provincial Assembly.

Portage National Bank branch in Garrettsville was robbed early today. Robbers took cash and several hostages who were later released unharmed. Exact hostage count and identities unavailable. Hostages were later found on a road outside Garrettsville in northeastern Portage County.
