City Manager Dale Hessel and Paul Christiansen say by this time next year Middleton will have a $12 million public funds mall nearly complete with private investment topping $7 million. Parking garage work advances and land purchase for a civic building proceed as downtown improvements continue.

In Nakhon Phanom Province Thailand terrorists set off a land mine under a bus killing 21 passengers and wounding others. Police said the blast targeted a vehicle believed to be carrying police patrols along the road.
