In Randolph Massachusetts 8 year old Joseph P Dunn Jr mails a yearly Valentine to his father Lt Cmdr Joseph P Dunn a Navy pilot missing since Valentine Day 1968 after his Skyraider was shot down off Hainan Island. Cards travel via the Chinese Red Cross in Peking China and return unanswered. The family clings to hope he is alive as a prisoner of war while a flag waves outside their home day and night.

Middletown Declared Bicentennial Community at City Event

Middletown was named a Bicentennial community with a new flag raised over the city building during a ceremony at the Colonial Theater attended by about 500 residents.
