Mrs Leasure Speaks On Early Christian Hymnody
Mrs Robert Leasure discussed the Development and Interpretation of Hymns of the Reformation and Victorian Era at the Morning Musicale of Middletown Music Club held Thursday at Mrs Dale Wiley's home on S Main Street. She traced early post apostolic hymn practices from Psalms and Upper Room worship to later Greek Syrian and German hymnody, noting a meter index and the use of “made-names.” The group sang early hymns with Mrs Wiley at organ and Mrs Robert Sutton at piano. The February 14 meeting will be at Mrs Wiley's home, with the next Morning Musicale set for March 7 at Mrs Robert Ramsdell's Central Avenue home.
