Mystery Grows Over Missing U S Tanker Marine Sulphur Queen
A deepening search fails to locate the 524 foot Marine Sulphur Queen and its 39 crew after departure from Beaumont Texas last Saturday. Coast Guard planes sweep thousands of square miles from Norfolk to 200 miles west of Key West while a reported oil slick 30 miles southwest of Key West prompts a cutter to probe its depth. The ship was due in Norfolk Thursday with molten sulphur aboard but has not been heard from since Sunday night. The incident recalls the 1918 disappearance of the Cyclops with 309 crew and 10 800 tons manganese.

TOLEDO Ohio AP Firefighters battled a major blaze at the Toledo Sports Center causing about 225000 in damage with 18 units used to control flames. The two story main building collapsed its roof and walls while 22 bowling lanes were ruined. No serious injuries reported. Bruce Davis owner and a cleaning woman escaped. a rear apartment tenant also got out safely. Fire Chief Bill Young described flames filling the building upon arrival. A second fire chief was treated for a fall on ice and released.
