Eight oil firms face U S antitrust requests over Middle East deals
Eight oil companies including British Petroleum Royal Dutch Shell Cie Francais de Petroles Exxon Gulf Mobil Standard Oil of California and Texaco are being asked by the Justice Department antitrust division to produce documents on Middle East oil transactions since 1968 or 1971 Some firms overseas may not comply Texaco has already supplied much information as the inquiry seeks to determine possible antitrust violations amid confidential Gulf arrangements.
