About a million Ohioans face a midnight filing cutoff as the state tax division expects around four million returns this year. A.J. Catanzaro notes that roughly three million have been filed so far with 1.5 million processed and refunds totaling about 29.3 million.
Cambodian government claims to hold Phnom Penh while Khmer Rouge radios report advances near the city and rebels control a market by the airport. In Saigon, Viet Cong sabotage hits Bien Hoa base and rocket fire targets the capital as refugees flee toward the city.

Cecil Nutter Jr. pulled a sleeping man from a supermarket trash bin before the truck lift dumped him. Police and fire crews freed the man who left the scene indignant and unnamed. Authorities noted it was the second such incident for the victim.
Paul W. Smith 24, son of Franklin City Council Chairman, was found fatally shot beside his car in the Dayton Mall south parking lot. He died at Kettering Medical Center after being found by a security agent about 5:30 p.m. Investigators sought witnesses as they probed motive while autopsy began. He leaves a young son, wife Dana, mother Rebecca, sister Leslie, and grandparents John and Mrs Shotwell. Funeral services are set for Thursday at Anglesby Funeral Home.
A Louis Harris survey for the National Council on the Aging finds 80 percent of Americans across ages say government should guarantee a comfortable income for the elderly. It also shows 80 percent believe employers discriminate against older workers, and 97 percent want Social Security benefits to rise with living costs.
Fredric March, acclaimed Oscar winner known for The Best Years of Our Lives and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, died at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at age 77 after battling cancer. He starred on stage with Florence Eldridge, whom he married in 1927, and lived in Beverly Hills and New Milford, Connecticut.
