The Middletown Corning Press announces publication schedule and office location in Gothic Hall First Floor Middletown Orange County. The paper appears Tuesday Thursday and Saturday afternoons at five o'clock from its Middletown office.
Mr. A B Deming Newsdealer Bookseller is the general agent for the Middletown Evening Press in Middletown and will manage village delivery and collections every two weeks. Single copies of the current issue may be purchased at Deming Morgan and Sloat and Vails Bookstore for four cents.

The Wibbard steamer was cut in two and twenty feet added, The Thomas Powell gains thirty feet, and refits improve the Crew and St John. A man from Stuyvesant abused a six year old boy, who is now in Hudson jail. The Monticello Railroad bond case was dismissed on technical grounds but may restart. A three year old boy, son of Mr Dooley, burned to death in Poughkeepsie after his mother left to run an errand. Miner Rees James, 40, killed in a Scranton shaft accident. Rondout and Kingston seek a consolidated city charter.

Tension rises as Rev J B Wakely D D presiding elder and church steward William Hanmer confront allegations. A meeting at Erie Depot saw Hanmer refuse handshake citing past issues, and his son Rev Charles Hanmer also declined to greet Wakely. Wakely summons Hanmer before a nine member church board with Rev W P Abbott presiding to answer charges including endorsement of accusations by his son.

The February term of County Court and Court of Sessions convenes at the Court House in Newburgh on Monday next. Judge Fullerton presides over civil causes and hearings Monday and Tuesday. The criminal branch opens Wednesday with Special County Judge W J Groo presiding. Futlerton acted as People’s attorney.
Dr Foote found a lap robe and female wearing apparel saved as stolen property in his hay mow on the Asylum property. Also taken were a horse blanket and other items, with a later notice listing thefts from the Asylum storehouses and tools.
The Winchesters presented a strong run with a well rehearsed cast. Performers have shown noticeable improvement since opening night and audiences will have another chance to see the play tonight.
At Forsyth's Crawford sale on the 16th auctioneer Howard Shaw sold 3 tons of hay at 33 dollars per ton. Five tons of taunce at 301 dollars per ton. A cow with calf brought 75 dollars. Corn in the ear sold at one dollar per bushel of 70 pounds. Potatoes sold for 1 cent, oats 70 cents.
The Evening Press reports temperature readings from Mc Monagle Rogers' Standard Thermometer North Street Drug Store for February 20 and 22. Readings list times 6 AM 9 AM 12 Noon 8 PM 9 PM with values around 40 and 80 degrees in a dated format.
Howells will present a concert by Prof Ross’s singing class on Saturday evening March 24. The program starts promptly at 7 o’clock with admission set at 25 cents by order of the committee.
Walter M. Vail is appointed Postmaster at Slate Hill replacing Peter Whited who is to move from the post in the coming Spring.
New alv of McMonagle and Rogers harness ad. Various sales and auctions listed including horses, house and lot, oats clover seed and flour, farm and cattle near Otisville. Mary Ann Mullock and others advertise wax flower displays for a ladies fair with lilies in glassy water. Proceeds support church and community booths.
The Port Jervis Evening Gazette reports a plan to shorten the Oswego to New York route by extending the Monticello and Port Jervis line to Deckertown New Jersey and connecting to Midland. Monticello bonds $30 000 to aid the link with Neversink river crossing and Beemerville tunnel, promising a 25 mile shorter corridor if completed.
Bunglied points out errors in the published pamphlet by the Board of Supervisors. It notes omissions of Stephen Rapalje Montgomery supervisor and incomplete vote records. The critic says official minutes omit original motions and amendments, and that newspapers during the session provided the best record.

The Montgomery Republican and Standard recounts Frank Wheeler a Pine Bush postmaster’s son, corrected as 15 years old, who left home to cash a draft and obtain money. It also reports a serious accident in which Robert Watts was hit by a horse and wagon near the village, suffering severe injuries and being treated at Deckers Hotel and home, condition critical.
