Social Security program aids semi retirement trend
William B. Weaver explains how aging Americans increasingly retire at 65 or near it while still working part time. He notes rising numbers: 1.3 million retirees in 1950 receiving 557 million annually, and over 4 million workers now in Old Age and Survivors Insurance with about 3 billion yearly. The program improved, drawing interest from the aged and public awareness, making semi retirement feasible for thousands.
