Jury pool trimmed as homicide case moves court in Arizona
Jurors and eight alternates are selected and sequestered as the trial on organized crime and corruption proceeds. Reporter Bolles of the Arizona Republic was mortally injured June 2 when a bomb struck his car and, before dying 11 days later, he whispered Find John Adamson. Judge Heineman dismissed the first 100 prospective jurors citing a misunderstanding and moved the trial to a smaller courtroom. Sheriff and Maricopa County officials cited security concerns as the reason for the change. A second group of jurors was summoned and judges excused five of 47 prospects for hardship or other causes amid speculation Bolles' death could be linked to a conspiracy involving Adamson.
