HUD Housing Rule Opponents Protest in Richton Hills

Opponents of a HUD rule argue the plan to sell rehabilitated homes to low and moderate income buyers would force price reductions of at least ten thousand dollars, risking depreciation of area values. They warn buyers could resell at market value, turning the program into a giveaway, while noting past rehabilitations have begun lifting home values in Richton Hills. A proposed amendment by the US Banking and Urban Affairs Committee to cap eligibility is being supported by FSSHS and the village, which passed a resolution Monday urging passage.
