Rally for more funding for Illinois developmentally disabled
In Springfield the ARC of Illinois joined the Illinois Coalition for People with Developmental Disabilities urging legislators to add 150 million dollars over three years for community care. The group, representing about 20 000 disabled residents, pressed for 50 million yearly in 2000 2001 and 2002 plus matching federal reimbursement to expand salaries and home based services and boost state reimbursements to agencies. Leaders warned of high staff turnover and burnout without funding while stressing the need to move waiting lists forward.
