Richton Park village trustees approved for FY 1999 00 a balanced budget totaling 10 956 008. The plan rises 899 192 8 9 percent from last year with major increases in two funds the commuter parking and sewer and water funds. Property taxes for the general fund rise 3 8 percent. The board also abated taxes on three bond issues saving homeowners about 60 on a 150 000 home.

A new trustee Cynthia Butler and two incumbents Michael Brown and Chester Wilkins began four year terms after being sworn in by Village Clerk Mary Pierce. Butler led the April 13 election with 443 votes, Brown 441 and Wilkins 317. The board approved 14 appointments to commissions and Butler plans to stay active in Parks and Recreation, Youth programs, and Lincoln Crossing HOA. Brown, a 12 year trustee and insurance underwriter, has chaired multiple recreation projects and serves with his wife Mary and their three children.
