Redell abandons Thornton recount bid in primary
Thornton Township Supervisor Frederick R. Redell will not seek a full recount of the February 23 Democratic primary citing cost and uncertain results. He noted potential legal fees could reach about 20,000 while acknowledging election irregularities and voter ballot confusion. Redell earned 6,682 legal votes to Frank Zuccarelli's 6,971. A 25 percent precinct discovery recount earlier showed nonpartisan ballots producing illegal supervisor votes. Redell said the decision aims to expose broader election mistakes.
