Library offers diving program for all ages this summer

The Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library runs a Dive Into Books program for adults 14 and up through Sept 19 with signups anytime and prizes. Kids’ version runs June 22 to July 24 with June 15 registration, plus Monday crafts and Wednesday entertainment. toddler time July 18 offers a 10:30 a.m. play session for ages 1-3 with songs and finger plays at 54 E 31st St. call 755-5040.

Will County panel studies effects of retirement package

The APC News Service report says Will County forms a committee to study early retirement incentives for county workers. The plan allows 55 plus eight years of service to retire, with the Sheriff’s Department able to retire at 50. The sheriff’s jail already has 22 officer openings and about 100 staff overall. The panel, including members from Finance, Insurance and Personnel, Judicial, Sheriff, and Merit Commission, will review impacts and report findings to the full board.
