Police Officers Run in Torch Relay for Illinois Special Olympics
More than 200 officers from 31 agencies race a 90 mile South Suburbs leg Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the 13th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. Leg No 9 begins at Bloom Trail High School Tuesday 7 30 AM and Matteson Police Department Wednesday 10 40 AM. The event supports Illinois Special Olympics which serves about 18 000 athletes and marks the 30th anniversary of the games. Last year Leg 9 raised 50 000 dollars. Sponsors may contact local agencies.
