Registration needed for aid under Selective Service rules
Ellis Falk, Thornton Community College financial aid director, says students must provide proof of Selective Service registration to receive federally funded aid. Illinois moves to require such proof for state aid. Federal law makes men 18 or older responsible for registration, with letters of acknowledgement as proof. Women must sign a statement saying they are not required to register.
