In Kittanning Pennsylvania a lock of hair taken 15 years earlier from a woman who died has grown to 24 inches and continues to lengthen. The hair was cut from Mrs. Mary Painter of Paulton after typhoid fever and kept in a book, where it later grew unusually long, attracting hundreds. No explanation exists.

Philadelphia March 7 Thomas L Hicks as director of public works cancels five contracts held by Daniel J McNichol for the city filtration system accusing collusion irregularity and fraud The total value of the cancelled contracts is 1 976 000 The McNichol firm including Israel W Durham and Senator James P McNichol has already completed over 12 million in work and plans to contest the order with legal action to compel rescission.
