Watterson Attacks Cleveland In New York Meeting
Col Henry Watterson writes in the Courier Journal that Grover Cleveland would betray the Democratic party for selfish ends and that his 1904 third term bid is ridiculous. He says Cleveland seeks office, not leadership, and would divide the party, especially against Western and Southern Democrats. He cites Tilden’s scorn and predicts Cleveland’s return would harm the Democrats.
