Mr Dueber’s Trouble Explained in Cincinnati Gazette

The Cincinnati Commercial Gazette reports Mr. Dueber’s financial distress and his claim of fighting the watch trust for three years. He says the assignment protects him from mischief by supposed friends while work remained, and notes plans to pay Hampden Company in full though about twenty thousand dollars beyond preferred claims. Witnesses Douglass and Tudor support his view, with Tudor adding time prevented detailing further.

Griswold Orphan Children Likely to Stay Together

Inquiries reveal the youngest sister plans to move the six Griswold orphans to Massillon to keep them together. The older children prefer unity, though separation is considered. The thirteen year old lost a leg in a train accident and the youngest girl, nearly blind, may recover sight. The home visit shows severe hardship.

Canton Mayors Court Drunks Arrested for Disorderly Conduct

Alfred Burton Henry Adair and Chas Johnson, Canton residents, were arrested for drunk and disorderly behavior. Johnson claimed to drive the pair and was discharged. the others paid $5.60 each. Separately, Lizzie Roberts was sought on a theft accusation by Wa H Crooks after a silk dress valued at $25 vanished from his daughter Jennie Crooks. An officer with a search warrant pursued the case in Canal Fulton.

Fatal Train Accident Near Justus Depot

A freight brakeman named J. G. Cohen was injured this morning near Justus depot when a moving train struck a stationary car on a switch. Cohen was knocked from the box car, stunned and badly bruised but survived with no broken bones as the two cars were severely damaged.

Exemption Bill for G A R Posts and Union Veterans League

The House bill No. 992 exempts from taxation property of G A R posts and the Union Veterans League aiding indigent comrades. It is with the senate finance committee and will be reported back soon to come before the senate for consideration.

Death of Mrs Wert After Nine Weeks Illness

Mrs Vy Wert and Mrs Er C Wert, wife of J B Wert, died yesterday evening after a nine week illness. She was 44. The funeral will be from the family residence on North Street at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Obituary notice to follow.
