Eau Claire correspondent recalls a sensational fall story from the Milwaukee Sentinel. On a farm two miles south of town two men blasting stumps turned away as a poodle swallowed dynamite. The dog bit a gray mule, which kicked, causing an explosion that blew the dog to atoms and sent the mule 30 feet into the air. The mule landed on a straw stack and escaped injury, while the blast knocked the granary off its foundation and shattered windows along one side of the house.
