Star Masterpiece Berkshire hog bred to world record price
On April 1, 1907 on H. C. Taylor farm in Oxfordville Wisconsin a pure Berkshire pig was born. By eight weeks he was purchased by the University of Wisconsin for 75 dollars due to superior Berkshire type. He grew to weigh 780 pounds at age two and led the university herd before selling back for 1000 dollars. In August he was sold at Whitehall hog sale for 5800 dollars to Kirksville residents.
