JAA ASKS FARM PROGRAM REVISIONS
Charles B. Shuman of Sullivan Illinois urged three revisions to the present farm program at a March 24 meeting of 800 Farm Bureau leaders in Springfield. Proposals include advancing the 75 to 90 parity price support to January 1 1951, discarding the alternate parity provision, and offering a choice between specific acreage allotments and a total conservation allotment to emphasize land use and soil conservation. Shuman plans to push immediate congressional action and notes the Illinois Agricultural Association represents 174 000 farm families.
