Farmers Urged to Target Insecticides and Soil Sampling
Farmers should use malathion methoxychlor and Sevin with careful handling and a one week max interval before harvest. Pat Johnson notes soft wheat yields in Brownstown Newton and Toledo with multiple varieties and emphasizes basing variety choice on several years of tests. Now is ideal to collect soil samples for limestone and fertilizer planning, with four acres per sample, and invites Clark County farmers to request limestone or rock phosphate practices by August 16. County ASCS election results name Sydney Vargas as chair, Dale Poorman as vice chair, and Herman Thompson as third member. Yargas defeats Gregg for chair in township balloting.
