Law on the Farm Collateral Heirs
The article explains how Illinois law handles inheritance when a property owner dies. It outlines two core principles: a owner may leave property to any chosen heir by will, or if no will exists the property passes to relatives in a statutory order. It details the priority of direct lineal heirs over collateral heirs such as siblings and their descendants.
Rights of Heirs in Illinois Real Estate Distribution
The text outlines who qualifies as heirs under Illinois law for real estate when there are no lineal heirs.
