The Ladies' aid of Egypt Community Church met at Mrs A D Meeker's home on Wednesday afternoon. They sewed and held a business meeting led by vice-chairman Helen Rankin. Refreshments were served to members Kate Heyl Edith Rankin Loren Meeker Elma Quick George Schumm Helen Rankin Bertha Martha Briggs Freda Heyl and guest Loida Crosby.

Elroy E. Golden of Manito joins 54 new members elected to Gamma Sigma Delta at the University of Illinois. Also inducted were Roy Yung state director of agriculture and Paul C. Johnson editor of Prairie Farmer. The society promotes high scholarship and excellence in agricultural science and education.
Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer hosted a gathering at their home to honor Bill Meyer on his graduation from Manito Community High School. Attendees included Alfred Hoerr and family Marilyn and Norma Albrecht and Jack Albrecht of Pekin Henry Weber of Peoria George Meyer Eva Wilson Gertrude and Marcella Meyer and the Meyer family.
Mr and Mrs Albert Fox of Route 2 Manita are the parents of a girl born at Pekia hospital Saturday.

Mrs Louise Heck man Emma Pollard Leona Sparks Pearl DeSutter Laura Seelye and Etta Cox describe a bus trip to Holland Michigan for the Tulip Festival. Greta Belle Beebe and Edward Jay Alexander were married February 15 in Pekin at the First Methodist church. Greta Belle, a 1950 Manito Community High School graduate, and Edward, a 1947 Delavan High School alum, now reside at 2107 Arctic Street, Virginia Beach, where he serves in the Navy.
The 4 H Club Clothing Tour scheduled for Monday May 29 is postponed due to the Grade School picnic. A new date likely June 5 will be announced at the first meeting May 31 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Miss Lucille Meyer’s home. Enrollment cards must be signed and filed in the county office by June 1.
Mrs. Folbert Maas and Mrs. John Meeker took the Home Bureau Bus from East on Thursday to Holland Michigan for the tulip festival. The trip was described as beautiful and enjoyable with a return home Saturday evening.

Tex Ritter the movie cowboy will star in a Wild West Rodeo at Exposition Gardens Peoria Illinois May 26 to 31. The show features over 100 head of livestock 60 performers 39 acts including bull dogging bronc riding rope tricks and a Chuck Wagon Race. A book review of Raising a Riot was presented by Mary Moore and lessons on Serving foods for Parties and Teas by Flora Lowry and Dora DeSutter. The minor lesson Herbs and Seasons was given by Calvin Bauer.

In Manito Egypt Community Church on May 28 1950 Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. with Lawrence Whiteford as superintendent. Morning worship follows at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joseph Hobbs. Rev. P. E. Mangers will fill the pulpit in Hobbs absence.

The Manito Community High School students gathered at 2 p.m. for report cards and the Man-Hi-An. They played a ball game, then enjoyed a buffet supper at 4 p.m. before watching the movie Smoky on campus.

Loretta Faye Dierker daughter of Mr and Mrs Ira Dierker is salutatorian for the class of 1950. She served as vice president cheerleader girl’s trio won second in district music contest acted in Jr and Sr plays and contributed to the Flash and Gabbit staff. She plans to enroll at Normal in the fall.
The Mason County PMA Committee starts 1951 wheat allotment planning. Farms that did not plant wheat in 1948 49 or 50 will not receive regular allotments unless special actions apply. New farm allotments are limited and funded by existing growers reductions. Applications must be written by June 9 1950 at the County PMA Office.

Barbara Seelye a sophomore at Eureka college was elected secretary of the Illinois Eye Press Association the Illinois division of the Intercollegiate Press Association at the spring convention held May 20 at the Robert Allerton Estate Monticello. Delegates from sixteen colleges attended Ira Cole of the University of Illinois led the convention. Barbara is active as Prism editor Delta Zeta record secretary and has held multiple campus roles.
Roger Louis Lempke son of Mr and Mrs Louis Lempke Forest City has been named Valedictorian of the Forest City community high school graduating class of 19560. He has four years of straight A grades served as class president editor of Flash and Gabbit staff and starred in chorus basketball and theater activities. He plans to attend Bradley University and has been awarded a $240 general scholarship applicable to tuition.
