It notes that about 400 people in Whatcom County suffer from tuberculosis and urges buying Anti Tuberculosis Christmas Seals to fund a local clinic and nurse, with a remark that several cases come from Lynden district. It also mentions a five year sentence for Ponzi for foreign exchange fraud.
The note contrasts get-rich-quick sales pitches with safe investing. It argues you can double money in under nine years at eight percent, but notes real bonds offering 7 to 8 percent yield with minimal risk. It promotes the safe approach as reliable, though slower, to reach a goal.
Alice Freeman Palmer is elected to the Hall of Fame in a moment of notable fame. The news notes her achievement and hints at the public interest in why this honor stands out.
The text accuses the shipbuilding board of wasting money and expresses public fatigue with ongoing Chautauqua lectures and related financial mismanagement.
A fragment expresses disillusionment with self help messages that promise greatness. It voices fatigue with endless guidance and the belief that many readers have abandoned hopes of achieving fame.
A Lynden high school event next Wednesday will offer farmers a chance to form a Lynden Farm Bureau branch. An unconfirmed report mentions a resident’s reaction to a penny Tuberculosis Seal. The piece urges quick payment of soldiers’ bonuses without delays.
This piece urges regular forethought in saving money to build independence and future opportunities. It argues that saving now increases buying power when prices fall and enhances comfort in life.
