School program draws large crowd at Lyn den grade event

A Friday night program at Lyn den High School featured the Highland Fling Greek Play Picture Gallery and more. The event raised 100 dollars for the school improvement fund with performances by first to eighth grade students including recitations drills songs and a grand Picture Gallery tableau headlined by Johanna Bannick and many others.

Lynden Cemetery Association proposed for Lynden Washington

A Lynden committee led by S T Jack seeks to form the Lynden Cemetery Association to manage and improve the Lynden cemetery. An agreement to incorporate has been drafted and signed at local stores awaiting more signers to proceed with incorporation and future improvements.

Lynden High Beats Nooksack Team 50 to 28

Lynden High School traveled to Nooksack and won the contest 50 to 28 in a decisive boys basketball matchup. The Lynden squad posted a strong start and built a clear lead throughout the game.

Hundreds Enroll As Red Cross Members

Red Cross roll call nears completion as volunteers canvass the district. Nearly four hundred members have joined this year and organizers aim to exceed five hundred total. Those unpaid are urged to send a one dollar renewal to the First National Bank.

Lynden Opens League Play November 25 at Home

Lynden will meet Bloedel Donovan in the Whatcom County Basketball League opener on Thanksgiving night November 25 at the high school gym. Lynden fields twelve players led by Meurer and faces a five-team schedule ending February 2 with each club playing three games against every opponent.

Lynden Park Board Created to Manage City Grounds

Lynden Washington residents learn the town council approved an ordinance creating a three member Park Board to oversee parks including Memorial Park. The measure allows a future levy up to one mill, directs fund handling, and enables donations to the Park Fund. Mayor Edson has yet to appoint members.

Dairymen to Meet in Bellingham Saturday Afternoon

Whatcom County Dairymen's Association members will hold an important meeting at Liberty Hall in Bellingham on Saturday at 1 30 p m. The meeting will discuss matters of importance and report progress of the new plant. Mr and Mrs Sam Stuurmans and Mr and Mrs Fred Stremler visited Whidby Island and Oak Harbor during the weekend.

Mrs Jacobson Returns Home After Weeks Away

Mrs Charles Jacobson has returned home after spending several weeks at the A Harlander home. Mrs CC E Pangborn spent last week at her son E L Lash’s home and Sunday morning she fell injuring herself severely. Miss Iva Jacobs of Bellingham was home over the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Will Jacobs. Mrs B Meenderinck has been ill this week.

Bert Landaal of Bellingham purchases the Stanley Robinson place from John Burgvraff and will reside there. It marks the fourth ownership change for the property in a few months.

Lynden caucus set for December 1 for city offices

Mayor Ed Edson called an official caucus in Lynden for Wednesday December 1 at 8 p.m. at City Hall. Nominations will be made for three two year term councilmen and a one year city treasurer. Expiring are J. P. Boerhave Gerrit Van Leeuwen Ed Knapp. J T Zylstra is treasurer.

Plan To Form Farm Bureau In Lynden District

A preliminary meeting is planned for December 8 to organize a Farm Bureau in the Lynden district. The movement aims to study local agricultural conditions, solve problems using experiment stations, demonstrate solutions, and disseminate results. It promotes home making, childcare, sanitation, and improved community services.

Lynden Joins War on Tuberculosis Christmas Seals Campaign

Lynden will join a national drive to stamp out tuberculosis by selling Red Cross Christmas seals next week. The Woman's Study Club will lead the sale, with Mrs DD L Beckes as president, and seals will be sold in Lynden stores. Residents urged to buy by the hundred and thousand, placing seals on doors to show support.

Lynden Observes Thanksgiving Day with Services and Closings

Lynden closes stores and schools for Thanksgiving and hosts services in local churches. The Christian Reformed Church holds its Thanksgiving service with an election of elders and deacons to follow. A second Christian Reformed congregation also plans services, and the First Reformed Church on Grover Street conducts a Holland language service at 10 a.m.

Funeral Services Held for George R Judson

Funeral services were conducted at Lynden cemetery for George Raymond Judson who died in Seattle. Born September 11 1885 in Lynden he lived there until 1901 and was survived by his mother Flora Beeman Seattle brothers Orzo Beeman and Allen P Judson US Navy. Rev W O Benadom presided with attendees from the family.
