One Last Check Up May Improve Your Flower Garden
EARL ARONSON offers 10 garden safety commandments from Chemical Specialties Manufacturers to reduce pesticide mishaps. Tips cover reading labels, storage, container care, no smoking, inhalation avoidance, protective gear, covering water dishes, using separate equipment for hormones, proper disposal, and avoiding planting edibles near sprayed ornamentals. New aerosol items include a reverse-spray rose and flower can and a 500-shot broadleaf weed container with 2 4D and 2 4 5T for targeted spraying.
Little Items Overlooked for Spring Garden Planning
Outdoor sowing remains timely and buyers should scan options for borders and potted plants. Low growing varieties such as midget marigolds alyssum portulaca compact dianthus Bravo and Thumbelina zinnia are suggested for narrow borders and front row display. Consider edging plants and use pots to move color around patios and fill gaps while ensuring cut flowers like Crackerjack marigolds zinnias asters and snapdragons are included. For begonias and other favorites ask a nurseryman for started plants to maximize bloom.
