President Truman vetoed the four billion dollar tax reduction bill Monday, effectively ending any chance of income tax cuts this year. Republicans in Congress face a two thirds vote to override, but supporters acknowledge the bill cannot pass over the veto.
Mr and Mrs Van Cochran of Safford Arizona were injured when their car left the Lordsburg road near Silver City hitting loose gravel on a curve. The pair were taken to Silver City General Hospital in serious condition after the 7 30 p m Saturday wreck while returning home from a visit in Silver City.
Eight month old James Banks Payne son of Mr and Mrs H Vearle Payne had an operation at an El Paso hospital Monday and is recovering as well as can be expected.
