Reader quotes on wildlife seasons and federal controls
In a letter to Jim Neeley, the Game Department chief Walt Snyder says quail season will likely stay, dove split remains possible, and sandhill crane hunting is unlikely in the Rio Grande valley due to ongoing whooping crane studies. He notes October as the probable start for hand tailed pigeons and warns of possible federal lawsuits over September dove hunting while Dove nesting studies proceed. The piece also mentions a July 29 to September 17 state wide bullfrog season with a daily bag limit of eight.
