A Village Doctor’s Quiet Riches in Human Lives

A story portrays a country physician who, amid a city patient’s doubt, earns wealth not in dollars but in saved lives. Neighbors praise his care, yet he gladly accepts partial payment, ensuring even the poorest sharecropper receives top medical attention without fear of bills.

An Argument Against Medical Nationalization

The speaker argues against standardized medical service and a national health bill. He cites personal doctor workload, costs, and potential loss of a trusted physician, contending reform would force two new doctors and reduce his doctor’s time for patients. He warns of political stagnation in the Senate and the risks of socialized medicine.
