The Veterans Administration spent 172.5 million dollars in New Mexico in fiscal 1981, up 12.4 million from 1980, within a 23.4 billion federal budget. New Mexico allocations covered 99.9 million in compensation and pension, 21.8 million for education and vocational rehab, and 42.7 million for medical and construction programs.
The Hurley County 4 H meeting led by President Mellissa Payne approved a parade float and a Christmas Tree Festival tree. Committee reports covered county and district contests and the state conference with Tammy Massy and LaEmma Payne contributing.
