Eating Is Good In The U S Army Dining Facilities
ALBUQUERQUE In nutrition conscious America soldiers in the Army follow a dietician dream in food choices. Milk is the popular drink and grilled steak tops meat with orange juice corn on the cob and eggs close behind. The Army serves 250 million meals yearly and uses a master menu of nearly 400 items a shift from the old boiled fare. Short order pop foods appeared seven years ago and about 30 percent of lunches are ham burgers hot dogs or sandwiches. New menus show calorie awareness with desserts of fresh fruits and fruit salads gaining popularity among weight conscious soldiers.
