Hidalgo County considers reopening hospital and road repairs

Hidalgo County commissioners met Tuesday August 8 and heard a detailed hospital progress report by consultant Humphrey who is Sunshine Haven Nursing Home administrator. He will meet August 15 with a hospital group to discuss operation and will file for a government funded medical clinic and dental service in Lordsburg. The board also discussed resurfacing Glen Acres Road, noting a paperwork error halted state agreement and considering larger trucks to speed the project. An audit firm was approved to audit Hidalgo General Hospital and the county agreed to assume control of the Rodeo TV translator from the Rodeo Association with FCC paperwork to follow.

Broom Time In Lordsburg Mayor Vows Nuisance Crackdown

Lordburg officials plan to enforce public nuisance rules targeting abandoned cars refrigerators and junked appliances. Mayor Alan Koff told council Wednesday the city will apply the nuisance ordinance. Kerr Rodeo Fire Department sought 15000 from county funds for a new fire truck to be used for building a fire house. Commissioner Chaires supported ensuring the fire house if the truck was bought independently.

Fight With Woman Leads To Arrest In Lordsburg

Lordsburg police responded to a restaurant fight where a woman companion claimed a mere argument. Officers learned Richard H. DuHamel, 30, of Weston Mass, was sought on armed robbery and weapon charges and jailed for extradition. Gerald L. Price, 30, was stabbed and treated at Hillcrest General Hospital. A stolen car was recovered near Shady Grove as detectives press the case.
