Chase Brass Breakthrough Cuts Casting Time On Narrow Strip
Chase Brass & Copper Company and Kennecott's Sedgemont Laboratory disclosed a patented rod casting process enabling continuous rolling of narrow copper brass and other alloy strip in 40 seconds, replacing a 40 day, 46-step method. The project, led by Glenn Bakken and scientists Bower Shinopulos and Randlett, targets labor savings energy cuts and lower costs.
