Veterans Day ceremony honors service and urges renewed VSO support
At Elyria American Legion Post 12 Veterans Day ceremony guest speaker Jacob Smith urged veterans to keep serving by helping communities and recruiting those who drifted from VSOs. He noted VFW membership fell to 1.4 million from 2 million since 1992, then rebounded by 300,000 since 2019. The program opened with tributes and readings including In Flanders Fields. A reminder: Veterans Day honors Armistice Day, originally observed November 11, 1918, with the 1954 US name change. Contact listed for Owen MacMillan.
