County delays Oberlin annexation vote in Pittsfield
Lorain County commissioners postponed the plan to annex 142 of 212 acres Oberlin owns in Pittsfield Township after residents and a trustee urged more time. The land bought in 2022 for 2.4 million from Eric and Lori McConnell faces concerns over development and rural character before a Nov. 19 meeting deadline.

Painting Paws Friendship APL mural honors volunteers
The Friendship APL in Elyria celebrates a mural painted on an old shipping container outside its Murray Ridge Road facility. Twenty six volunteer artists from the Elyria Arts Council stripped rust primed and painted the 40 foot container transforming it into art while recalling beloved pets. Executive Director Greg Willey commended the group for turning something ugly into beauty and likened the project to how the shelter helps sick injured and neglected animals.
