Lorain Public Library System and City Fresh foster a food desert remedy through a week to week Farm Box program. Local farmers within 70 miles of Cleveland supply shares purchasable online with pickup at 16 locations including Lorain Main and South Branch. Wellington McCormick appoints new principal at McCormick Middle
Wellington Exempted Village School District announced Robert Figuly as the new principal of McCormick Middle School. Figuly, previously seven years as assistant principal at Sailorway Middle in Vermilion, holds two master’s degrees and degrees from Slippery Rock and Capella. He will start August 1 along with Pete Bailey, named district treasurer to replace Mark Donnelly after a June 25 board vote. Bailey holds an ABBA from Ashland University and gains a state treasurer license for the two year term.

Opioid LINC film to premiere in Wellington July 29
An unreleased documentary The Wellington Experiment by Patrick Shaver debuts at 7 p.m. July 29 at the Patricia Lindley Center of Performing Arts. The film follows Local Initiative Networking Compassion leaders and Tim Barfield’s LINC team, tracing the police assisted links to treatment and the program’s roots and goals since 2016. The project, shot 2019–2020, won Best in Show at the 2022 Austin Revolution Film Festival and aims for a late summer public release.
